This Blog will attempt to be an honest broker of information

In the land mobile radio industry there is a tremendous amount of misinformation that is doled out by self interest; typically the vendors and there channel partners.  The major players in this market place are driven by profits which is what business is all about.  However, the profit should be fair and the market should not be held hostage by proprietary technology that artificially inflates the cost of acquiring, deploying and maintaining a critical infrastructure.  Especially, when the cost have become so prohibitive that it takes millions of dollars in federal grant money to make it a realistic goal to accomplish.  The overwhelming  recipients of those grant moneys are large population areas as they have the most voters to buy off.  As we have witnessed over the years the ability for the vendors to exploit an incomplete standard by controlling the standards committees and by not allowing other technologies that are more widely used outside of North America thus holding hostage the technology and forcing the taxpayers to pay an extraordinary premium for a outdated technology that could be inferior to that of what is used in Europe, Asia and South America.
